Attention
Invoice
A browser extension that keeps a running tab on the hours you hand the feed, then bills you every week. Itemized. Amount due: $0.00, because you already paid with your time. Everything stays on your device.

Source on GitHub →Download & unzip
Get attention-invoice.zip and double-click it. You'll get a folder called attention-invoice. Keep it somewhere it won't get cleaned up.
Open extensions
Type chrome://extensions in the address bar (Edge: edge://extensions, Brave: brave://extensions). Switch on Developer mode, top right.
Load unpacked
Click Load unpacked, pick the attention-invoice folder, then pin the receipt icon to your toolbar. Billing starts the next time you open a feed.
A Chrome Web Store version is in the works. Until then, “Developer mode” is just Chrome's name for installing something that isn't from the Store.
What it can seeless than the feed does
storage- Saves your daily totals on this computer. Nothing is synced or uploaded.
idle- Stops the meter after 2 minutes without mouse or keyboard, so a video left playing in another room doesn't count forever.
alarms- A once-a-minute heartbeat so long sessions are counted even if nothing else happens.
- Site access (17 sites)
- Only the sites it bills: YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, X, Reddit, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitch, Netflix, Threads, Bluesky, Pinterest, Snapchat, Hacker News. It can't see the address of any other tab. We checked: on every other site, the extension gets a blank.
Nothing leaves
The extension never makes a network request: no analytics, no account, no server. Your invoice exists in exactly one place. If you add your own site to bill, Chrome asks your permission for that one site.
Frequently asked
- Why is the amount due $0.00?
- Because you've already paid. The platforms sold your attention to advertisers in real time. The invoice is just the receipt.
- What counts as time?
- Seconds where a billed site is the active tab in a focused window and you've touched the mouse or keyboard in the last 2 minutes. Background tabs are free. For now.
- Firefox? Safari? My phone?
- Chromium browsers only for now. Your phone already has Screen Time; it just doesn't print you a receipt.
- Can I get a refund?
- No refunds. No returns. Close the tab.
